LibraryThe library at Micah contains books that are about or related to Jewish themes.  The majority of synagogues in Nashville have libraries and each works in conjunction with the Jewish Federation of Nashville.  Each synagogue also has a dedicated or particular "theme" in its library.  For example, the Micah library includes many volumes about diversity from Jewish perspectives. And there are core books on literature, entertainment and music.

The library's collection serves all ages.  There are books for youngsters, young adolescents, teens, and adults of all ages.  The history of Judaism, religious rites and practices, books about Torah and related study guides and other non-fiction reference materials are available in the Micah library.  In addition to an extensive non-fiction collection that includes topics from art to cooking to travel to showbiz, there are novels and biographies (and autobiographies) for all ages.

It is easy to borrow a book or audiotape from the Micah library.  Just come in, select the book or audiotape you want to borrow, sign the library card and place the card in the "Checked-Out" box.  Return the item when you have finished enjoying your selection by replacing the card into the book and dropping the book or audiotape in the return case at the rear of the library.  It should be mentioned that some reference books may not be checked out, but are for use in the library.

Surpass SafariThe Surpass Safari system is an easy way to find out what is in the Micah library collection. To assist in finding a book or other reference materials, the system may be searched by title, author, subject or key word. There are two computers located at the front entrance of the library with access to the Surpass Safari catalogue system. Please ask the office for assistance if you are not familiar with using the new online Safari catalogue program and someone from the Library Committee with contact you to provide assistance.

Micah holds an annual book fair whereby individuals may purchase a book for the library in the name of a family member or loved one.  It is a great way to remember and recognize those persons who have had a positive impact on our lives.  Details of the book fair are published in the Messenger and Order of Services (Friday evening) so that information is provided on a timely basis for this event.

We hope to encourage use of the library since it offers a wonderful selection of books.  The Library Committee brings books and materials quarterly to an Oneg Shabbat so congregants can take a book "on-the-spot"!

Any questions or suggestions for the Micah library are welcome and can be sent to this web site or forwarded to the Micah office.  Thank you.
