B'nai Mitzvah Important Dates
The following timeline provides some information about the types of activities that take place in the months, weeks, and days preceeding a Bar or Bat Mitzvah:
2 - 2 1/2 Years Prior:
Following the B'nai Mitzvah Introductory meeting with the rabbis, you will request and receive a date from the Executive Director. Call the Micah office to reserve the synagogue facility for a reception, if you so desire.
10 - 12 Months Prior:
Bar or Bat Mitzvah student and family meets privately with the rabbi. This meeting includes a general discussion of the significance of Bar or Bat Mitzvah.
8 - 9 Months Prior:
Meeting with Educator/Rabbi to evaluate Hebrew level and develop tutoring program. Possibly begin private Hebrew tutoring sessions.
6 - 8 Months Prior:
Begin private tutoring sessions.
6 - 8 Weeks Prior:
Evaluation with Rabbi. Speech writing begins.
3 - 4 Weeks Prior:
Finalize service participation. Complete preparation. Pulpit rehearsals begin.
Week of Ceremony:
Final pulpit rehearsals.
Day of Ceremony:
Pre-ceremony mini-rehearsal.
