Rabbi Laurie Rice
Rabbi Laurie Rice
Rabbi Laurie Rice hails from Los Angeles, California where she was born and raised. She completed her BA at Northwestern University, as a dual major in History and Slavic Languages and Literatures. After spending a year apprenticing at a winery in Napa Valley, California, Rabbi Rice began her rabbinic studies at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Rabbi Rice received her ordination in 2001.
Prior to coming to Congregation Micah in July of 2006, Rabbi Rice served as a solo Rabbi of Congregation Kol Ami in Woodinville, Washington for five years. As a rabbinic student, she served as a student rabbi in communities in California and New York, as well as working as a student chaplain at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and as research assistant to Dr. Eugene Borowitz, the Reform movement’s pre-eminent theologian.
Aside from all things Jewish, Rabbi Rice loves to spend time with her husband and co-rabbi, Philip “Flip” Rice, and her three children. She is also a lover of running and sipping good wine.
