Michael Hunter Ochs
Composer in Residence / Accompanist
Michael Hunter Ochs is a world-class songwriter with music recently released by international superstar Josh Groban and nine time Grammy winner Cece Winans.
Michael was honored when DreamWorks Motion Pictures licensed his composition "Live" for the national advertisements for the Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks film, "The Terminal." His song "One And Only" was featured as the love theme and closing credits in the Uma Thurman hit summer comedy, "My Super Ex-Girlfriend." Ochs co-wrote the theme song for the Lifetime Television series, "I Married A Princess" and his music has recently appeared in the Warner Brothers film, "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants" and the 20th Century Fox film, "Aquamarine."
Ochs work can also be heard on many television soundtracks, including the Julia Louis-Dreyfus sit-com "The New Adventures Of Old Christine," "So You Think You Can Dance," "Dawson’s Creek," "Jack & Jill," "As The World Turns," "The Young And The Restless" and "The Guiding Light."
Ochs has garnered widespread recognition and universal appeal as evidenced by his Multi-Platinum certification by the RIAA as well as his capture of the Nashville Songwriters Association International award for Song Of The Year and –ironically- The Gospel Music Association award for Song of the Year for 1998's, "On My Knees."
After the success of “On My Knees,” Michael turned his attention towards writing and producing an original Jewish CD, Gesher, which has been hailed as a groundbreaking achievement in the world of contemporary Hebrew Music. Gesher has appeared at the URJ Biennial 2005, CAJE 2006 and recently has led services for Edgar Bronfman’s foundation, Birthright Israel. A number of the songs on this CD have become standards in the Jewish liturgy across the United States.
