Julie Greenberg
Education Director
Julie grew up in Dallas, Texas before heading first to The University of Texas and then to The University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology and Psychology (1991). Upon returning to Texas, she earned her secondary teaching certifications in English, history, sociology, and journalism.
Julie was named "Teacher of the Year" in her school district in 1998 while pursuing her Master’s certificate in Gifted & Special Education at Southern Methodist University.
Her professional teaching background made her an excellent candidate for the position of Program Coordinator and Trainer of the international teacher training program, COMP (Classroom Organization and Management Program), at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, where she worked for her first three years in Nashville.
Having recently received her Master of Theological Studies at Vanderbilt's Divinity School, Julie brings to Micah not only her expertise in Jewish studies, but also her sensitivity to and familiarity with other faith traditions. In her four years as Education Director, Julie has invigorated and restructured an authentic, creative and substantive curriculum for students of all ages, learning styles, and backgrounds. She initiated Micah’s first midweek Hebrew program, Micah's "B'Yachad: Coming to Torah Together" family b'nai mitzvah program, and continues to develop memorable and engaging learning opportunities as the Religious School Committee seeks accreditation through the National Association of Temple Educators.
When not working at Micah, Julie enjoys reading; traveling, gardening and cooking with her husband; and soaking up the goodness of her own two young children.
