Social Action Sundays
Several times each school year, the Religious School
Committee and the Social Action Committee join forces to provide hands-on
opportunities for Religious School families to roll up their proverbial sleeves
and contribute to local causes and charities. Past projects have included
a school-wide working field trip to Second Harvest Food Bank,
mulching trails around Radnor Lake, and preparing backpacks of donated food for
low-income students to take home with them over the weekends.
This year, Social Action Sundays included an awareness
and advocacy session regarding Nashville’s homeless community and the “street
newspaper,” The Contributor,
supporting Jewish Family Services by adopting families for Chanukah, as well
as hosting an Empty Bowls project to raise funds for our ongoing support of
those in our community who suffer from hunger.
Stay tuned to our calendar for upcoming Social Action Sunday dates.
